Uglyhead Kickstarter Succeeds/Exceeds!

The Kickstarter for The Garden mastering has come to an end and we have exceeded our goals. Free T-shirts will be awarded to everyone that backed the project. Thanks to everyone that participated! If this failed it would have delayed the album for really long time (its hard to raise that kind of money).

On a side-note anyone can now register a username and subscribe to uglyhead.org using the new "register" page located on the right column of this page. This will let you secure your name so you can take part in the news conversations and the forum page. I can also send group emails to everyone that registers and maybe make some secret pages for you with exclusive content. There will be a lot of news soon and hopefully more traffic to this site so grab your user name while it is still available.

The kickstarter for The Garden Mastering has been fully backed but there is still time to take advantage of all the reward levels. The excess money from the kickstarter will help offset all the extra costs and shipping of the rewards. There are only a limited amount of The Garden Special Editions left and I suspect they will go very quickly once the album is released so now is a good time to secure your copy. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has contributed to this project and has made it successful. I will post updates on the album as it nears completion.

Things have started to plateau a little bit so to add extra incentive I am adding one more reward. If we meet or exceed our goal, all backers will receive a "The Garden" t-shirt. It doesn't matter if you pledged $1 or $1,000, if we reach the $2,100 goal I will collect your tshirt size and ship them off ASAP. Mixing complete (and other news)

I completed mixing for The Garden today! The plan is to give it month for us to give the mixes a good listen, make some final tweaks and get it mastered and put it out properly. This album took about 3 years to put together and it is a huge relief to finally be at this point.

In the mean time I am going to hit the road and fill in on bass guitar for good friends He Whose Ox is Gored on their tour from Seattle down to Texas. This tour will last the entire month of March and we will be hitting up many cities. It would be great to see some familiar faces or meet some new people so please check their page and stay updated on the tour schedule. Don't forget to say "hi" if you attend a show.

I will be making regular updates on The Garden so don't forget to subscribe to the rss feed or like uglyhead on facebook.

One other thing to note:
While I am gone on tour I won't be around to send out free sticker packs (Oznacza to, że Polska!) or Uglyhead merchandise so your best bet is to place orders through automation records or a major retailer like amazon.

Tour poster giveaway

I was going through some storage and found some tour posters from the LA show of the 2008 Fall US tour. I have 3 extras left and am giving them away for free! Wow it has been a really tough year! All the recording for the garden is done and I am in the middle of mixing it down. I hope to get it out early next year. Working on it made 2011 fly by. Anyways I hope everyone has a good whatevermas and an excellent new year!!! I will leave you with one more track from The Garden Special Edition bonus disc. If I preview anything else it will be from the main album. See you next year!!!

Scott Brovan

Early this morning I heard an usettling rumor which left me in a state of denial. I slowly traced the rumor back to various sources which lead to the surreal and shocking news that my long time friend and band mate Scott Brovan had been found dead in LA on Thursday morning. Every time I called him today I fully expected him to pick up the phone and tell me a great story about an experience that started a rumor about his death. Even as I type this part of me is hoping that he returns my call before I hit the "Save & Close" button. I don't know the specifics of his death (he fell asleep, he didn't wake up) but it isn't as important to me as how he lived. Scott was introduced to me by friend and uglyhead contributor Mack who met him at a party in Tacoma. I was super impressed with Scott's playing ability and timing and we quickly started working on music together. We ended up sharing at least 7 years worth of the most memorable Uglyhead shows together and eventually became roommates for a couple of years. Scott's love for music was unmatched and when uglyhead wasn't enough of an outlet for him he went on to support other bands like SMP, Betty X and Alalingua in addittion to Uglyhead. He even did some time in a Cure cover band called Fascination Street. One of my favorite memories of Scott (and there are many) is when he did an impromtu performance with a Jazz band following an Uglyhead set at the Bunkhouse in Las Vegas on tour. Scott just loved to play and it was very evident that he lived for it.

In many ways Scott served as a big brother to me and when things went bad for me in Seattle he gave me a place to live for a while, bought me a train ticket to San Francisco and drove me to the Train Station. I will never forget his kindness, positive attitude and I think I have permanent hearing damage from his loud ass monster Triple Rectifier, Jazz Chorus stack (I am probably not the only one) so in a way he has physically affected me for the rest of my life. If there is some sort of afterlife I hope our paths cross and we can play together again. Rest in loud filthy saturated guitar noise Scott Brovan. Its been fucking amazing my friend.
