I produced an album for the black metal band "Palace of Worms" earlier this year and it came out today.

It is available at Flenser Records.

RIP Koldo Chamorro

I am a bit late in finding this out but Spanish photographer Koldo Chamorro died in October. I lived in his flat in Pamplona while I was putting together music for my first album. There was a language barrier but we got along well. He was a very dedicated artist and a generous person. I remember sitting in on some sort of meeting in Madrid with Koldo and a gallery owner from Seattle regarding a gallery showing. The meeting came to an abrubt end when Koldo explained that he was only interested in showing his photos and not interested in selling them. He exposed me to new perspectives on art and was very influential to me in the short time I knew him. As far as I know he never did have a gallery showing in the US. I found a few of his photographs on the internet that I would like to share. My best wishes go out to his family. Koldo, you will be missed.

Inward/Outward album now available on itunes and other news

The Inward/Outward combo MP3 album is now conveniently available on itunes for purchase. If you don't have it, this is the easiest way you are ever going to get it. If you do have it or have listened to Inward and Outward please go to itunes and rate it and review it so more people will be tempted to pick it up. Inward and Outward got zero free press so your reviews will go a long way and will help a lot.

There are a very limited number of the actual Inward and Outward CD's available through Automation Records. This is your last chance to pick a copy of these limited edition discs for super cheap.

Once they are gone you can only get the itunes version.

Sorry to keep rehashing older material but I assure you a lot of work is being done on new Uglyhead tracks and there will be much activity in 2010. Moving to SF slowed things down for me in '09 but I am finally getting back up to speed. (I hope I am not jinxing myself but...) I have a lot of plans for this upcoming year!

In other news I produced an album for the black metal project Palace of Worms earlier this year and it has gone to press. It should be available to purchase from Flenser Recordings by the end of the month. I will update this site as soon as it is released and talk more about it.

I hope everyone is having a decent winter thus far! It has been cold and rainy in San Francisco but I can't complain because I know Seattle (and many other places) have it way worse this time of year.

Inward/Outward MP3 album available on Bandcamp

The mini-albums Inward and Outward have been combined in to an mp3 album called "Inward/Outward" which is now available on bandcamp.com

The album is available in a "pay-what-you-want" format. If you are dirt poor you can pick it up for nothing however if you have a few extra bucks and you would like to help me and automation records put out more albums than you can select to pay for it.
It sounds like there are a total of 15 actual copies of the limited edition pressing of Inward and Outward left so if you would rather have a physical copy please get in touch with me or automation records to pick them up while you can.

Once, a long time ago, I registered the domain name "uglyhead.org" and I had it for a long time. The domain name was put on cd's, stickers, posters, flyers etc...

A couple of years ago I was on tour during the time the domain registration expired. Before I had a chance to renew my registration some jerk-company bought the domain name and just parked a placeholder page there and told me that I could pay them some ridiculous amount of money and they would give me uglyhead.org back.

Being that I am dirt poor and kind of a spiteful person I decided to let them sit on the page and just lose money.

Recently they let their registration lapse so I am pleased to announce that uglyhead.org is back and now all the website info on all uglyhead products and adverts is correct. You can now visit www.uglyhead.org and it will take you here. www.uglyheadmusic.com will also take you here.

I also wanted to inform you that I am working on creating uglyhead.org member logins so you can login to the site and have your own dedicated screen name for posting comments. I may also do special giveaways for website members and send out newsletters from time to time...

If you would like an uglyhead.org account please send an email to jakealejo@hotmail.com with the following info:

1. The screen name you would like.

2. Your first and last name.

3. (Optional) a mailing address if you would like to receive promotional items.

I will get you your login and password within 24 hours.

Website update.

The other day I logged into the uglyhead myspace account and saw an advertisement for a video of cute animals. I clicked on it and I got a pre-video advert. Once my video loaded I discovered that it was a promotional video for a site that basically sells advertisement space before their videos of cute animals. Once the video was over pop-up advertisements followed on a page that already contained 7 ad banners. I checked my inbox and it was littered with advertisements and group emails regarding shows that are occurring half way across the country that I can't attend. I get friend requests from profiles representing corporate companies and products. On the off chance I get a friend request from an interesting band and I go to listen to music on their page, I am interrupted by pop up advertisements. I also get advertisements from myspace convincing me to buy advertisement space...

It is making me sick so I am updating this site basically so i can just log in and update people on Uglyhead and non-Uglyhead related news without being advertised to. I also want people to be able to check out Uglyhead in a less annoying forum.

The old site was complicated and never got updated so I am simplifying everything so I can update often.

Please feel free to make suggestions for the site. Things are a bit bare bones at the moment but this new format is way easier to update and I will be often.

This site is designed to be an open forum so please feel free to participate in random discussion or whatever. Just please restrain from posting ads. I will probably remove them.
