There is a new (very limited) Uglyhead release! A 7 inch lathe cut transparent picture disc featuring the songs Faces Of Fingers and My Feet Are Falling Off.
Lathe cut records tend to be mono so I recorded (with some help from Jeremiah Smith) a special mono performance of both songs with a tube microphone and solid state pre-amp in an open room. No multi-tracking or direct recording was done in order to get a particular sound that I thought would be ideal for the medium. The result is a bit lo-fi but ultimately adds to the experience of listening to a lathe cut record. I mastered the mono recordings and then sent them off to Matt Dixon in Arizona where each 7" was lathed in real-time. The end result is a beautiful looking and unique sounding two-sided transparent picture disk.
Because the recordings were made specifically to be heard in mono on a lathe cut record, these recordings will not be available digitally. They will be for sale at two upcoming shows (listed below) in Portland, Or and Seattle, WA. If any are left over I will make them available to purchase through uglyhead.org
